The Story

Hi! I am Gene and I came to the UK in 2011 to study Maths at Oxford University, where I first fell in love with the country and visiting one coffee shop after another. I became a maths teacher since 2014. I have really enjoyed making my lessons unique and fun by bringing murder mystery and escape room activities. Later in my career I had the experience as a Key Stage 5 team leader, Key Stage 4 team leader and then deputy head of maths.

During pandemic in 2020, I have started a side business on virtual escape room games. I created a website where people can interact with when playing as a family or with friends on Zoom. Since then I have realised how much I enjoy learning and growing. During my spare time, I completed Level 4 Street Dance Teaching Diploma and a Mental Health First Aid qualification. In the same year, we got two mischievous cats joining our family: Toothless (black boy cat) and Totoro (black and white girl cat). They witnessed all my ups and downs in 2020 and inspired me to pursue my dream.

In 2021, I have decided to take a leap of faith to pursue a different career, which could take my creativity and love for the community even further. I completed SCA Barista Foundation Qualification in the summer and Latte Art training. I volunteered at the Dove Cafe in Beaconsfield and then became their short term assistant manager until now I am opening my own coffee shop.

I truly believe in the power of good coffee and a positive vibe. I am driven to run a coffee shop where I can contribute every skill and strength to the community I love.
